Philosophy

The Idea

The central idea behind METTE is to integrate all common flow assurance and production management task in a single application which can be used throughout field life. This includes standardized input formats for data common to different tasks which allow for simple interchangability of data. It also minimize time consuming input data management. Work processes become more efficient with online connection to reservoir simulators providing consistency in between underground predictions and production systems. Including a log analysis module yields simple access to key parameters for hydraulic calculations. Interpretation of field production data gives in situ well flow estimates. Combined with network simulator this may be used to define system bottlenecks and set new production goals effectively optimizing field production. Object oriented design provides for flexibility to interface other applications both up and down stream of the production network.

A large benefit of METTE is that these tasks are all contained within a single application. All data storage, export and import, equation solvers and physical models are common across application modes. There is a single graphical user interface for accessing data, editing and creating input files. It can be run under Unix/Linux/Windows platforms.
